French engravers, Spanish engravers. Paris/Madrid -Javier Tusell (1982)
Group exhibition held at the Spanish Museum of Contemporary Art in Madrid.
It is a great satisfaction for the Directorate General of Fine Arts, Archives and Libraries to present jointly the graphic work of French and Spanish artists carried out in the Casa de Velázquez in Madrid and in the Colegio de España in Paris as a proof of the positive results of the cultural exchange between both countries.
The work carried out by Casa de Velázquez since its foundation in 1928, facilitating and promoting artistic activities, especially engraving and printing, is commendable, as we can see from the work presented here. At the same time, of course, there is a well-founded and excited expectation in the projected reopening of the College of Spain in Paris, which represented for all Spanish artists and especially for those present at this exhibition, a crucial moment in their training, to be able from the university city, to make contact with the always enriching artistic environment of Paris.
We hope that this exhibition will serve to strengthen ties in this cultural exchange and that we will soon be able to see our artists again at the Colegio de España in Paris.
