ENRIQUE GRAN-JOAQUÍN DE LA PUENTE (1975)
Exhibition held at the Lúzaro Gallery. Bilbao
My knowledge of Enrique Gran is not from today. I have always admired him, I have followed his life and career for a few years now. Not because I was at a distance, I ceased to be perplexed by his human heroism, his integrity as a strong and courageous man, his strong vocation as a formidable Cajigona from the northern land where he was born with stubborn Aragonese blood and ancestral Castilian seriousness. His manhood is great and to be admired. But, even greater is his creative restlessness and the quality achieved time and time again, all along the paths travelled to be the painter he is today.
A painter from head to toe. Painter to the core. A painter without any doubt. More, also much more than a painter. Creator. Visionary in and from his spirit. In and from his mind. In and from the psychism that throbs in the visible for those who know how to see. In the forms that are more than matter. More than vain sensations. That are shaken bowls where the spirit of those who know how to recreate is poured.
This is how Enrique Gran walks through the world, this is how he walks through painting and travels through life. As a lucid visionary of the intrapsychic energy of all that we are and that surrounds us. Unravelling his vividness and dramas. His deep emotion.
